Generally occurring in typical areas around the neck, underarms, eyelids and below the breasts, Skin tags are also referred to as tissue of the color of flesh that hang out from a little stem from around the skin . They are found usually when the skin is irritated by skin or clothing. Whilst, Skin Tags normally appear to be even shaped and rumpled, they may be varied in their manifestations.
Early symptoms indicate small even swelling circling the neck and can grow as large as a cherry.
Skin tags are very common occurrences and a large percentage of the general population is affected. Whilst skin tags may occur in children, it is more common in adulthood and specifically in the middle age and up to 60 years. It has also been found that overweight people have a higher tendency to be affected. Skin tags are also frequently associated with pregnant women due to the increased hormone levels. Importantly, although, skin tags are actually a tumor they are non cancerous and will not develop into anything serious if left untreated. However, they can cause a certain amount of discomfort depending on where they are located, like in the groin or the neck. Sometimes, they may be removed to enhance appearance aesthetics. At other times removal may be necessary if they are irritated or if they are caught in clothing or jewelry, causing soreness. There are number of ways in which Skin tag can be treated or removed medically. These can include removal with by cutting, and electric cauterization. Whilst small skin tags are taken out without anesthesia, larger ones may require local anesthesia. If the skin tags are spread over a large area a topical anesthetic cream may prove to be effective prior to removal. As a home remedy, the tag can be tied by a bit of twine, thereby enabling it to fall off after some days. Scissors can be also used to take off the tag; however this may result in some amount of bleeding. Contrary to common perceptions, there is nothing to prove that removal of tags enables the new growths. Some people may have a tendency to have frequents outbreaks and my therefore require removals every few months or once a year.
