Scarry Skin Burns - Itching Burning Skin Burn Treatment

Itchy burning skin is most commonly caused as a result of allergies or asthma.

Exposure to poison ivy, poison sumac, or poison oak can also cause a burning skin sensation. In case the condition is caused as an allergic reaction it is necessary to identify the allergen or trigger for such a reaction.

The most common causes of such “skin burns” are dust, dander from pets, pollen, pollution, certain foods, etc. Treatment for itchy skin caused as a reaction can only be symptomatic in this situation and the only effective cure is identifying the allergen and then avoiding or restricting exposure to it. Rashes caused by exposure to poison ivy, poison sumac, or poison oak can however be treated. Dietary changes can also help increase resistance to allergens and reduce the frequency of such reactions.

Skin Burn Treatment - How to treat skin burns?

There are a number of home remedies that are known to be extremely effective against a burning sensation on the skin and they can be made using herbs and other natural ingredients that are easily available. Cassia, Holy Basil, Henna, Sandal Wood and Rauwolfia are a few of the commonly used herbs. These herbs are known for their soothing and anti inflammatory properties. You can use any of these herbs to make a paste and apply it to the affected area to relieve the swelling and irritation. Aloe Vera is another valuable herbal remedy and applying an aloe vera extract is known to relieve itching.

For immediate relief you could apply calamine lotion, rubbing alcohol, or Milk of Magnesia. You can also make baking soda pastes and mixes with vinegar, oatmeal and even buttermilk. These measures will help provide relief from the itching burning skin.

Some other things that you should consider doing to address the problem of burning on and under skin include the following:

• Keep your skin well hydrated and moisturized by drinking a lot of water. Try to cut down on your intake of coffee or soda they are diuretics that flush water out from your body.

• A wholesome and healthy well balanced diet is important not just for your overall health, but will also work wonders for your skin and increase your resistance and immunity, also increasing your resistance to allergens. Cut down on your intake of unhealthy foods, rich in saturated and trans fats. Instead of junk foods and fried foods opt for fresh vegetables and fruits, and whole grains.
